Fire Station

Fire Station

Refurbishment is kicking off.

September 2nd was a very special day. Not only did we celebrate the grand opening of the Dyrekcja Building, but we also received the building permit for the Fire Station.

Just a few weeks later we are happy to announce the start of the refurbishment works on this adaptive re-use project which will turn this into a place for gastronomy.

Adapt

One of the shipyard’s key characteristics was its ability to continuously evolve and respond to changing circumstances. We recognize this in the Dyrekcja Building as it grew over time both horizontally as well as vertically. The same applies to the Fire Station. Initially constructed as a one-story building, a floor with social rooms was added and the building was modernized with the typical wide gates for fire vehicles and a stable for horses. Around 1955 the annex was added to the front elevation. The building was in use till the mid ’90s.

Mixed-use

The shipyard area accommodated many auxiliary functions, essential in supporting the production and life at the shipyard. From all kinds of technical infrastructure like boiler rooms, power stations, and elevated gas pipe tracks, to many social, cultural, and administrative functions. The shipyard was like a ‘city within a city’ with a hospital, cinema, kindergarten, sports facilities, and several other amenities.

DNA

In preparing the Fire Station for its 2nd life, we are staying true to this DNA. The building will be adapted to new use and will contribute to the mixed-use character of this place, a pillar in our vision for the revitalization of the Imperial Shipyard.

With the opening of the Dyrekcja Building and plans for more workplaces and living quarters in our area and in surrounding developments, the demand grows for places for people to come together, socialize and have a good time.

As a stand-alone building with its characteristic architecture, we are confident the Fire Station can become the next destination in the shipyard.

Gastronomy

Prominently located on the Dyrekcja Plaza, close to Poplieszuksi street, BHP hall, and ECS, there are great opportunities for turning the Fire Station into a place for gastronomy.

Moreover, the building is strategically located, linking the Road to Freedom, which starts at the historic Gate no. 2, with the rest of the Imperial Shipyard. This will help to create the necessary footfall.

For lease

Currently, we are looking for partners that can help us create this so-called third place.
Our leaflet with the key data can be downloaded here.
