The last event in the DOK space

Premiere of Magda Beneda’s calendar

On Thursday, November 24th, 2022 we celebrated the last event in the DOK event space, which after 26 months changes its function to an office and will soon welcome a new tenant. Since September 2020 the DOK event space has been the venue for many unique events, such as the opening of the honorary consulate of Indonesia, PZFD Tricity trainings, meetings of local associations and the final of the WOŚP. Therefore, the last event must have been special.

Together with the artist from Gdańsk, Magda Beneda, we celebrated the premiere of the calendar for the coming year among the artist’s friends and her regular clients. This is the 8th edition of the limited author’s calendar, which presents 12 works selected by the artist, completed in the previous year.

The artist started the event with a short introduction about the calendar and how the cooperation with us began. We established cooperation with the artist before the opening of the Dyrekcja building. It was then the idea arose for Magda Beneda to paint a painting commemorating this unique moment with each completed investment. Our Project Director, Jadwiga Kosińska, in her speech, referred not only to her Solidarity roots but also to the future of the area and further cooperation with the artist. After completing more projects, we would like to make an exhibition of paintings showing these unique #newstories for us. The manager of Mielżyński Gdańsk, Jerzy Kruk, broke the bank, after introducing the guests to the philosophy of the Mielżyńsk brand, summed up his 18-year experience as a sommelier in 3 minutes (smell, when it’s white say that it has a citrus note – 90% of white wines have such a note when it’s red say it has a hint of blackberry, plum or blackcurrant). With a well-identified glass of wine, the guests enjoyed the music of Renata Irsa, who, accompanied by a saxophone and an acoustic guitar, sang several songs.

Magda Beneda is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Painting and Graphics in Gdańsk. Her paintings are characterized by sunny, intense colors. Since 2013, she has been running her own gallery Atelier Magda Beneda in Gdańsk, which is currently located at Ogarna street 101 and is part of the Gallery of Various Arts.

From November 25th, the calendar is available both at www.magdabeneda.pl and in the Gallery of Various Arts in Gdańsk, at Ogarna street 101. On Saturday and Sunday (November 26-27), from 12-3 pm, the artist will be there for those who ask for additional entries, dedications, etc.).
